Learn the Basics of Keno
Keno is a lottery game that originated from China. It was brought to the United States during the 19th century, upon which the Chinese character are replaced with numbers. At one point, Keno cards are characterized with numbers accompanied by a name of a racehorse. It was during this time that the game was popularly known as Racehorse Keno. The racehorses' names disappeared in early 1950s.
Keno is played in either live or video versions. In the live version, players are given Keno tickets that bear the numbers 1 to 80. The player then marks between one to twenty numbers on the card. After that, the card will be brought to a Keno writer who will confirm that the bet is intended for the coming game. Keno's video version, on the other hand, is played on a console that looks a lot like a Slot machine. Here, the players do not use tickets. Instead, they mark their bets through the touch screen video.
After the bets are placed, the numbered balls are drawn. In the live version, the balls are forced out of an air blower; In the video version, the balls are drawn randomly on a computerized manner. A total of twenty balls will be drawn. You win a payout if the numbers you marked come out. Different casinos use different pay tables. Both the House edge and payback percentage, therefore, are not absolute.
Players can bet a simple straight or a complex series of combinations. Although a straight ticket bet pays impressive enough, many daring players still choose to wager on different combinations.
There is no Keno strategy that offers optimum results. Like Lottery and Bingo, a Keno win relies on pure chance. Any of the 80 numbers on the ticket may come out as likely as the others. That is probably why Keno is mostly played for fun. Some players would not even mind to sit at the Keno lounge. They may be relaxing at any of the casino restaurants and still play the game. They will just have to give their tickets to a Keno runner who will bring it back with the outcome.
Serious cash players, however, develop interest in Keno because it is promising in providing a high payout with such a small wager. It can make you an instant millionaire if you are too lucky.
Currently, Keno has been given an Internet makeover as well. Online casinos offer a game of Keno in a fashion that is not too far from how it was experienced in a land-based lounge. Playing online Keno is far more convenient than playing the video version. In the former, you need not to go far away from home to enjoy the game.
